This article will show you how to add content to an existing drag-and-drop template so that you can preview and send it out as a message.
Don't yet see the drag-and-drop editor option?
We are slowly rolling out the drag-and-drop editor to Messages XR Enterprise clients. There are two areas where you may already be able to access this option:
- the Additional Email templates button in the Email channel
- the Templates tab in the Messages area
Prerequisite
Before following the steps in this article, be sure you have already completed the steps in the previous article, "Set up a new message with a selected drag-and-drop template."
This article exists to provide All users with everything they need to understand how to perform essential tasks and manage the Messages XR Enterprise platform for communicating with district and school families.
Step 1: Open a selected template
Are you editing someone else's template?
Before you begin customizing this selected template, have you Cloned the template or are you mistakingly editing someone else's work? Learn more about protecting and limiting templates in the article, "Managing template permissions in Messages XR Enterprise."
In the editing toolbar in the Email channel, click the Additional Email Templates button. Alternatively, you can click to open the Templates tab.
In the window that appears, select the name of the template from the template picker.
The drag-and-drop editor will open up.
Step 2: Add your content into the template

Content: Add and modify your content that will show up in the newsletter.
- Update text and images.
- Drag new Content elements.
- Learn more in the section, "Add Content elements" and a reference guide for how each Content element works in the Content Elements library.
- Consider adding:
- Video links
- Social media icons
- An Unsubscribe link attached to a form or linking to a Help Article, "Families: Manage your delivery status levels."
- Rows: Add new rows and adjust Row Properties as needed.
- Configure other settings to customize this newsletter for your specific, targeted audience.

Step 3: Preview your newsletter
You can preview your newsletter as you recipients will see it.
Ready to preview?
- Click the Preview button to go into Preview mode.
Once in Preview mode you can:
- See how this template will appear on different device sizes.
- Scroll down and adjust the frame to see all parts of your template.
- Go back into Edit mode should you wish to make more edits.
- When your message is ready to send, click the Save & Back to Message button.
Option: Save a message as a template
While working on creating a message, you may decide this one is worth saving! You can save a message as a template so that it will be available for you and others to use again in the future.
- After you have selected your template and return to the Create message > Email channel, you will see some options next to your newsletter thumbnail.
- Select Save as template where you will be asked to give a new, unique name for this new template.
