This article explains the Limited Use setting in Messages XR Enterprise, which restricts how many recipients a user can message at once, and how to enable or disable it for individual users or in bulk via the Staff Report.
💡Quick answers
- What does the Limited Use setting do? When enabled, it prevents a user from sending a single message to more than 10 recipients at one time.
- Is Limited Use on or off by default for new accounts? Limited Use is on by default for all accounts created through SIS imports and must be disabled if you want those users to send to more than 10 recipients.
- Disabling Limited Use for a single staff member? Open the user's Account profile in the Accounts tab and uncheck the Limited use checkbox.
- Can I update Limited Use for multiple users at once? Yes, run the Staff Report, check the boxes next to the users you want to update, and use the bulk action buttons to enable or disable the setting for all selected users.
- Why would a district keep Limited Use enabled for some users? It prevents accidental or unauthorized mass messaging, keeping the platform focused on targeted operational communications rather than large-scale broadcasts.
How Limited use works
The Limited use checkbox can be selected on a user's account profile when configuring a user's settings. This, as a result, immediately imposes a strict technical constraint on that user's messaging capability.
Important Note
