The School Status area in the CommHQ app empowers administrators to instantly update and share a school’s operational status—such as Open, Closed, Lockdown, Delay, or Early Release—with their entire community. With just a few taps, they can select affected schools, add a short explanation, and submit the update. The app then prompts them to notify all associated users, ensuring consistent, real-time communication. It’s a simple yet powerful way to keep families and staff informed on the go.
Tap the School status button to open up the School status area where you can set the current status for a school or multiple schools in your district all at the same time.
Here's how to set a status for a school, group of schools, or all of your organizations at once.
- Step 1: Click the Status dropdown to choose a different status.
- Select from: Open, Closed, Lockdown, Delay, and Early release.
- Step 2: Click the back arrow to continue setting the status.
- Step 3: Click the Schools dropdown to select the schools within your organization whose status will change.
- Step 4: Add a description for your status change that is 140 characters or less and Submit button.
- Confirm whether you are ready to Change the status for the selected schools.
- The app will give you an option to automatically Send a message to all users associated with the selected schools or organizations.
- Recipients will receive a notification of the change in School status, as well as be able to view the status symbol and see an updated Current Status on the School Info page.
