District admins have a lot of responsibility. The Accounts tab in the Messages XR Enterprise platform makes it easy for you to manage your users, completing many tasks pertaining to managing your community’s accounts. Let’s see how it works!
This is a Help for District Administrators article, providing comprehensive support for those with the highest level of access as they help their communities get started with Messages XR Enterprise.
Important Note
Any edits made to accounts that are added dynamically through an integration or scheduled imports need to be made at the original source and not in the Messages XR Enterprise account profile window.
How to know the difference between manually-created vs imported accounts?
- Manually-created accounts: Role is in a dropdown and can be adjusted.
- Imported accounts: Role is hard-coded and can't be changed in the accounts window.
Navigate to the Accounts tab in left navigation. There are horizontal tabs within the Accounts area to help guide your task completion.
Accounts > Manage accounts
The first tab is Manage accounts.
Here are some common tasks you might do in the Manage accounts area:
- Manage User Accounts: Add, remove, edit details, change login or password, and configure settings.
- Verify and Search Users: Verify information, search by name, phone/email, and filter by role or school.
- View and Filter Accounts: See all or selected users, list out accounts, and combine filter criteria to narrow down the list.

Accounts > Upload accounts
The area where you can upload users in bulk is by using the Upload accounts tab. Many times, users are added dynamically through your SIS integration. However, there may be times you will use the Upload Accounts area to upload a segment of people and assign them into an Account Type.
Important Note
This feature should only be used if we are not syncing data daily on your behalf via scheduled import(s). If you are using imports, uploading accounts on your own may result in the deletion of accounts. If you are uncertain about your organization's account setup, please reach out to Finalsite support for guidance.

Accounts > Generate passwords
In this area, you can generate initial passwords for selected individuals or even large groups of users so that you may then more easily mass distribute to parents, students, and/or other members of your district or school.
Important Note
The system can generate a maximum of 10,000 passwords in a single session. If you require additional passwords, you'll need to split your list into smaller batches.

Accounts > Upload photos
- Here you can bulk upload your Staff and Student profile photos up to two times per school year.
- Most schools perform the upload at the beginning of the school year. Throughout the year, you can make individual adjustments to staff or student photos for new students or staff changes.
- Photos uploaded here display in the admins app and the mobile app if one has been purchased and implemented.

Accounts > Upload student data
- This feature allows you to be able to upload text files, PDF files, .html, and tab-separated .txt files.
- The information you add in the Upload student data tab will populate into each student’s account information page.
